Introduction
Dear Subscriber,
We are glad to share with you the latest news on the developments of the cultural and promotional activities of Fondazione ICONS. This Privacy Notice refers to you as data subject, i.e. the owner of your personal data. It explains which personal data we collect and how we use it.
This Privacy Notice regulates the processing of personal data by Fondazione ICONS, with its registered office in Italy at I-26900 Piazza della Vittoria 1, Lodi, TAX ID 92563110151, e-mail icons@icons.it, Tel. +39 0371 091065. In this respect, Fondazione acts as data controller.
Fondazione ICONS fully controls and shares resources, facilities and infrastructure with ICONS srl. They also jointly determine the purpose and means of data processing, sharing the same legal background, the LIA, where applicable. For this reason, ICONS srl and Fondazione ICONS have signed a joint control agreement pursuant to Art. 26 of European Regulation 679/2016 – GDPR.
Please read this document carefully; it contains essential information about the way your personal data is processed and about the cookies that are used.
Fondazione ICONS’ mission is to disseminate the results of scientific research and cultural projects to the general public. Fondazione ICONS acts as the communication, dissemination and exploitation partner in many scientific and cultural research consortia, mostly publicly (EU and national) funded, occasionally privately funded. We help scientists, researchers and cultural operators to share the results of their work with the general public, researchers and innovators.
Within the GINNGER project Fondazione ICONS is also responsible for communication and dissemination activities of several scientific research projects public or privately funded. The personal data and the data treatment described below is managed by Fondazione ICONS staff, who act according to high and proven professionalism in the design of communication strategies and they support the other consortium partners in the management of this data where required. The processing activities involving your personal data do not include automated individual decision-making, nor profiling as defined under Article 22 of the GDPR.
1. Type of data and related processing
1.1 Data voluntarily provided by the Subscriber
The explicit and voluntary provision of personal data from you is essential in order to have access to certain services offered by the data controller through the website (e.g. newsletter subscription) or the participation to in-person and online events (e.g. webinars, trainings, conferences) and to receive the requested updates. This involves the collection of personal data and contact details, as well as any other personal data that is required in order to respond to requests or to provide the available services, such as the audio-video registration of online event/training or images taken during in-person events. Fondazione ICONS doesn’t collect nor process sensitive data. Once the project or the initiative to which you have subscribed or participated is terminated, your personal data might be used as per Art. 2 in other similar projects belonging to the same thematic research area or technology, where Fondazione ICONS or ICONS S.R.L. carries out communication and dissemination or exploitation activities.
1.2 Navigation Data (data deriving from user’s navigation)
During routine activities, the computer system may store some of your browsing data. This data, although not collected to be associated with your identity, may allow indirect recognition of your identity when processing and associating with the data held by the data controller. According to the Privacy Regulation they could be considered personal data. This category of data includes IP addresses and domain names of the user’s computer.
Fondazione ICONS shall not use or allow third parties to collect any data that may identify an individual such as name, email address or billing information. You may decline cookies by deactivating them in your browser.
1.3 Navigation data processed with Matomo or similar applications
Our website uses Matomo, an open-source software tool that helps website owners to measure how users interact with website content. Matomo enables tracking visitor interactions using first-party cookies. These cookies can record information such as time of visit and pages viewed.
You may decline the use of cookies using the banner that appears on the website.

2. What do we do with your personal data?
Your data is used to organise dissemination, communication and networking activities related to the projects we are working on.
  • To send newsletters and information on activities carried out by the GINNGER Consortium;
  • To provide information about research results and project content;
  • To carry out anonymous statistics;
  • To organize online and in-person events;
  • To disseminate project activities and results including images or recordings;
  • To carry out legitimate communication activities related to similar projects.
3. Where do we store and protect your data?
The data processing takes place at the headquarters of Fondazione ICONS in Lodi, Italy and complies with GDPR 679/2016.
The data is stored in EU-based servers with appropriate security measures.
4. Who processes your data?
Fondazione ICONS acts as Data Controller for the GINNGER project.

6. Why do we process your personal data?
Fondazione ICONS processes personal data to disseminate cultural and scientific research results.

Processing is based on legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6(f) GDPR.
8. Data retention
Your data will be retained for the duration of the project and up to 2 years after the last communication.
9. Data transfer
Personal data may be shared with:

  • Website management providers
  • IT service providers
  • Auditing bodies
Your personal data will not be sold to third parties.
