HUNOSA points out co-creation, digital solutions and mine-water heating as key drivers for a fair energy transition in Langreo.
On 27 November, HUNOSA, one of GINNGER’s partners and representative of the Asturian pilot, presented the project at the Norte Renovables 2025 Congress.
During his talk, Pablo Fernández, Head of the Renewable Energy Department at HUNOSA, outlined the ongoing work in Langreo, highlighting the participatory approach and the digital tools currently under development.
As a key contributor to the Asturian pilot, HUNOSA is developing a district heating network that will use residual heat from mine water to supply buildings and households across the municipality.

Norte Renovables has established itself as a leading event for the renewable energy sector, bringing together key players to discuss the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of sustainable energy and to present forward-looking initiatives.
GINNGER’s participation in the congress reaffirms the project’s commitment to fostering a just and inclusive energy transition in former coal-mining regions such as Langreo.
